Just like a dentist says to brush and floss in order to avoid cavities, so a myofascial trigger point therapist says that you have to maintain your muscles if you want to keep using them.  Perform range of motion exercises daily for all muscles that you want to use for life.  When you notice that you have limited range of motion, those tissues need to be corrected.  After correction, then look for trigger points and treat with compression and a therapeutic stretch program followed by an every day range of motion program.
