Pre-Appointment Evaluation
The questionnaire covers topics like:
- The nature of your pain and dysfunction
- When the pain or dysfunction started
- What makes it better / worse
- What other therapies were tried and how well they helped
- What are your goals?
Arrive Early
Try to arrive a bit before your appointment. One goal is to help you relax your mind and body. If you have time to park, arrive, use the rest room and collect yourself, our work together will be much more productive.
What To Wear
During the myofascial trigger point therapy session, your therapist will need easy access to the areas of your body that require treatment. Depending on what area is being treated, your body may be placed in a variety of different treatment and stretch positions and you may be asked to stand and walk around so that your therapist can assess your posture and gait. Also, we often use warm water bags to help you to relax in either a seated or prone position on the treatment table.
We recommend that you wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that can be adjusted so that your skin is easily accessible for treatment. If you feel comfortable, you may also choose to wear your undergarments or a swim suit. As necessary, you can be draped in a sheet to maintain your privacy.
